Operations Manager – Direct Hire / Immediate Opportunity (Bonus Potential)

A rapidly growing aerospace manufacturer is urgently seeking a driven, hands-on Operations Manager to take command of the production floor and accelerate operational performance. This is a high-impact leadership role where your decisions will directly influence output, quality, and customer satisfaction from day one.

 

What You’ll Do

  • Lead and optimize daily CNC machining and Assembly operations in a high-mix, low-volume aerospace environment.

  • Drive daily GEMBA walks and actively contribute to weekly production and 360 meetings.

  • Manage a team of 50 production employees, including performance management, discipline, PTO/OT approvals, and staffing oversight.

  • Own all safety, environmental, and regulatory compliance across the facility.

  • Ensure adherence to NADCAP, AS9100, and customer-specific aerospace requirements.

  • Oversee production planning, scheduling, and resource allocation across multi-axis machining centers and Assembly operations.

  • Maintain accurate production travelers and ensure data integrity within the ERP system (Epicor).

  • Implement lean manufacturing initiatives and continuous improvement strategies to eliminate waste and boost efficiency.

  • Mentor machinists, assemblers, deburring, leads, and support staff to build a high-performance culture.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, sales, quality, and supply chain to

  • Monitor KPIs and take decisive corrective action to improve throughput, quality, and cost control.

  • Manage tooling, preventive maintenance, and machine utilization to maximize uptime.

  • Foster a culture of safety, accountability, urgency, and operational excellence.

 

What You Bring

  • 7+ years of CNC machining experience, including 3+ years in aerospace operations leadership.

  • Strong expertise in CNC machining and programming.

  • Deep understanding of GD&T, blueprint reading, and CNC programming fundamentals.

  • Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems (Epicor preferred) and production planning tools.

  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s in Engineering, Manufacturing, or related field.

  • Certifications: Six Sigma, Lean, PMP, or Certified Manager (CM) preferred.

  • Software: ERP systems, MS Office, CAD/CAM exposure.
