Job Description
Machine Shop in Cypress is seeking a CNC Machine Shop Supervisor to take ownership of the shop and the staff. We have many Haas mills & lathes, as well as Swiss lathes with Fanuc controls. The Ideal candidate reads & interprets blueprint drawings for recommendations to operations for quoting purposes to customers. Assigns work to machine operators; selects appropriate tooling and fixtures to be used by operators; inspects first article part and production run to ensure that parts conform to specifications; Mentors, monitors and evaluates employee performance. Meets with vendors & customers.
Responsibilities:
Directs & leads employees in the proper machining practices, company rules,
policies, and procedures
Monitors safe work practices by ensuring that guards are in place, safety glasses are worn, and that all safe work practices are followed by employees
Assigns work to shop employees & it s machines, based on capabilities & need
Checks first article parts to meet inspection before ok in production. Oversees all Quality Control measures to ensure profitability
Determines proper tooling, fixtures, & equipment to be provided to operators
Oversees all shop activity, shipping, receiving & requesting repairs/maintenance
Supervises employees daily performance & assists in employee development
Uses a critical eye on all quality standards prior to shipping
Completes work records & computer production reports
Regular punctuality & attendance. Be a good role model for all employees
Sets example with company rules, policies, procedures, and safety guidelines to ensure safe and effective operations
Engages staff & encourages a teamwork environment
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Skilled in the use of precision measuring equipment
Able to perform advanced mathematics
Ability to operate work centers when operators are not available
Ability to analyze and solve machining and production problems
Experience with supervisory methods
Must possess superior communication skills
Able to work in a cooperative and positive manner
Able to assist in employee selection, training, supervision, and evaluation
MasterCam programming knowledge is preferred
Knowledge of shop floor data collection systems, i.E., ERP systems
