Environmental Technician – Simplified Job Description Reports To: Environmental Health & Safety Manager Status: Non-Exempt, Hourly Department: Environmental / Waste Water Treatment Position Summary The Environmental Technician operates, monitors, and maintains the Waste Water Treatment (WWT) system. This includes performing daily lab tests for copper concentration, completing preventive maintenance, handling hazardous waste, and performing plumbing tasks related to the WWT system and production areas. Key Responsibilities Follow all company policies, procedures, and safety requirements. Organize and prioritize daily tasks to meet deadlines and production needs. Maintain high productivity and efficiency. Operate and monitor the Waste Water Treatment (WWT) system each day. Perform daily preventive maintenance on the WWT system. Collect grab samples from ion exchange (IX) sensing systems and discharge points. Conduct daily lab analysis for copper concentration. Perform batch treatment when required. Store virgin chemicals in the correct locations. Organize and ship hazardous waste according to regulations. Perform plumbing work related to the WWT system and production floor. Set up equipment to collect composite samples. Authority Assist in training new personnel as needed. Physical Requirements Ability to sit or stand for long periods. Ability to perform repetitive motions for extended periods. Ability to lift at least 40 lbs. Skills Understanding of industry standards, customer specifications, and reference materials. Strong communication and teamwork skills across all levels of staff. Ability to follow company systems and procedures accurately. Able to work independently with minimal supervision. Ability to work under pressure and meet time-sensitive deadlines. Strong problem-solving skills. Effective support for production lines. Education & Experience High school diploma or equivalent. Minimum of two years of experience in an Environmental Department or printed circuit board industry. Training Requirements Refer to the Training Database on Blackbeard for required training.
