Manufacturing Engineer

Full-Time | Orange County| $100,000 to $130,000

 

A well-established manufacturing company is seeking an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to support engineering, R&D, and production operations in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role is highly hands-on and focuses on process improvement, automation, equipment design, and production support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead manufacturing engineering projects supporting R&D line trials and production

  • Design, build, and improve automation and semi-automation equipment with strong focus on operator safety

  • Support mechanical and electrical systems including PLCs, sensors, pneumatics, hydraulics, motors, and vision systems

  • Design and improve tooling, fixtures, work cells, and production layouts

  • Conduct machine qualification, testing, and documentation for production release

  • Drive cost reduction, quality improvement, and process optimization initiatives

  • Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for manufacturing issues

  • Provide DFMA guidance for high-volume manufacturing, assembly, and packaging

  • Support production teams with equipment setup and troubleshooting on complex parts

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Manufacturing, Quality, Maintenance, Sales, and Production Control

  • Recommend and justify new equipment purchases

  • Support Lean manufacturing initiatives and continuous improvement efforts

  • Assist with safety, environmental compliance, and preventive maintenance programs

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering (manufacturing focus preferred)

  • Minimum 7 years of hands-on manufacturing engineering experience (required)

  • Strong experience designing manufacturing equipment (mechanical & electrical)

  • Solid working knowledge of PLCs, controls, sensors, pneumatics, hydraulics, and vision systems

  • Experience with automation and semi-automation in a manufacturing environment

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and tolerances

  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing, DFMA, SPC, FMEA, and DOE

  • Proficiency with CAD software (SolidWorks preferred)

  • Strong technical documentation and report-writing skills

  • Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills

  • Ability to work independently and thrive in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in plastic or rubber manufacturing environments

  • Knowledge of extrusion or co-extrusion processes

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus

  • Familiarity with KPIs, KPPs, and KPCs

  • Experience managing project timelines (Microsoft Project preferred)

  • Light travel may be required (5–10%)
